Mental Health Issues

Mental Health Issues are a range of conditions that affect you, your thinking, your mood and your behaviour. It makes things hard and complicated for you.

There are numerous mental health issues, most frequent ones includesanxiety disorders, behavioural and emotional disorders, bipolar affectivedisorders, dissociation and dissociative disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, eating disorders, post-traumatic disorders, schizophrenia, psychosis, depression and paranoia.

How to know what mental illness you have?

How to improve your condition?

You cannot continue to face such issues all the time. No matter, how hard you try to tell yourself everything is fine, it will never be fine so seek help.

  • Try accepting yourself the way you are, do not run away from the things you are having difficulty with. Take some time to understand your problems. Once you find the root of your problem, try to cut it off, for example, if your toxic friends keep demotivating and discouraging you, gather the will to speak up and end things honestly.
  • Take rest and calm yourself as much as you can. Everyone has to face their problems but what makes each one of us different and unique is the way we tackle our problems. Deep Breathing is a great way to think of a solution with a calm mind. It has simple steps “5 3 7”, breathe in for 5 seconds, hold your breath for 3 seconds and finally breathe out for 7 seconds. It will decrease your tension and your heart will start to relax. This deep breathing when done in a continuous pattern will automatically make our brain think everything is fine and in favour of you.
  • Try doing the opposite of what your illness makes you do like if you are feeling afraid of everyone around you, try eliminating that factor and go out, be with people and try to socialize. This one is quite difficult so it may not be favourable for everyone but it’s very effective and can get you a permanent solution.
  • If you keep remembering about the past bad things that happened to you (PSTD), divert your attention from there to what is happening around you, for example, try touching the place where you are sitting like bed or floor, listen to your mom shouting at you because you did not do the chores, smell the spices your mom is putting in today’s lunch, see what your siblings are playing, etc. Engage yourself in answering the questions about the things around you.
  • Not every day is good but at least there’s one good thing that happens to you every day. Try thinking of your destinations like if youare having stress about studies that you have so much to study but you are not in the mood so think of what you are going to become one day by studying this, think of your dream jobs and what your parents have gone through to provide you with the best.
  • Share it with your trusted people. Talking them out will help you in accepting yourself. It’s okay to cry when you are suffering but it will be better if you have a shoulder to cry on.
  • Consult a therapist or doctor if your illness makes you go crazy and hurts you too much emotionally. Therapists know better than anyone how to treat a patient and calm them down. If nobody will understand you, they will definitely understand you and help you get rid of it.
